The eight questions we get most often.
From pet safety and outdoor use to the "my dog ate it" panic — these are the questions our support team answers most often, written out in plain English.
Is RatX® safe around pets and children?
RatX® is formulated with naturally derived ingredients and classified as an EPA minimum-risk pesticide. When used as directed, RatX® is safe around people, pets, livestock and non-target wildlife. As with any rodent control product, we recommend placing pellets, discs or throw packs out of direct reach of children and pets.
How does RatX® work without poison?
RatX® uses a patented five-step mechanical process: rodents consume the pellets, experience dehydration, progress to kidney failure, and expire — typically in 3–5 days for rats and 1–2 days for mice. Because no conventional poison is involved, there is no secondary poisoning risk to scavengers or predators.
Does RatX® really reduce death odor?
Yes. Because the RatX® mechanism dehydrates the rodent, the animal mummifies rather than putrefies — reducing the characteristic death-odor by up to 95% compared to conventional rodenticides. This is one of the most-cited benefits from our professional pest-control customers.
What is the difference between RatX and MouseX?
Both use the same naturally derived poison-free formulation. RatX® is labeled and sized for rats and mixed rodent populations; MouseX® is the mouse-specific format with attractants tuned to house and field mice. Both are effective against all common U.S. rodent species.
Can I use RatX® outdoors?
Yes. RatX® pellets, bait discs and throw packs are all formulated for indoor and outdoor use — including attics, basements, barnyards, orchards, industrial buildings, livestock areas and sheds.
My dog ate RatX — what should I do?
RatX® does not contain anti-coagulants or conventional neurotoxins, so the acute risk profile is significantly lower than with traditional rodenticides. However, if you suspect your pet has ingested any rodent-control product, we recommend contacting your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (+1 888-426-4435) and retaining the product packaging for reference. Our Product Safety line is available 24/7 at +1 (855) 327-4932.
Where is RatX® manufactured?
RatX® is a U.S. brand of EcoClear Products. Our products are formulated and packaged in the United States, with headquarters in Pleasantville, New York.
Is RatX® effective against all species of rats and mice?
Yes. RatX® is rated as effective for all species of rats and mice commonly found in the United States — including Norway rats, roof rats, house mice, deer mice, and field mice.
